Last week while browsing Through YouTube , I stumbled upon this video of Crime Tak EP 511:सुलझ गई बेड, फंदा और पंखे की पहेली, SUSHANT SINGH के कमरे की पूरी रिपोर्ट शम्स की ज़ुबानी.
Crime tak is a YouTube channel run by Shams Tahir Khan of Aaj Tak fame (remember Vardaat?). As the name suggests he presents Crime incidents in a story format.
Like many of you, even I was shocked by the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. There are zillions of videos on YouTube claiming that this isn’t a suicide, he was drugged, etc.
Naturally, coming from the forensic background (and since there is nothing much to do otherwise because of the lock-down), I have been watching and reading all that I can find on the topic. For the forensic insights of course.
Coming to this particular video.
As the caption was such, I thought there would be some forensic details in the video so I sat down to watch it.
After listening to the presenter for a good 33 minutes, I nearly sprained my neck when it jolted on hearing Shams describe Viscera as and I-am-kidding-you-not “pet mai ek thelli hai jahan pe hum jo bhi khate hai wo jama ho jata hai” (Translated to English – Viscera is a pouch in the stomach where the food we eat gets collected).
Doesn’t that sound similar to umm… stomach?
So What is Viscera in the Human Body?
Let me explain if you did not get the blooper.
Viscera is derived from a Latin word “viscus” meaning “an organ of the body.
In the human body, the abdominal cavity holds majority of the viscera. Viscera refers to the major organs found in this cavity, such as the following: stomach, liver, spleen, gallbladder, and intestines.
In fact, viscera also can comprise of organs from other body cavities such as thoracic cavity (lungs and heart) and the pelvic cavity(kidney and adrenal gland)
So the stomach is a viscera. But the viscera can be many other things.
Clear hai?
Summing up
This may have been a bit technical for those not from the medical or forensic community. But it is important to catch a blooper. when you find one Or how else are we going to educated the average netizen?
You surely don’t want to see the resurrection of ‘scientist’ stereotyped in Bollywood movies. With their wacky appearance and fuming test tubes. Do you?
So did you learn something? Share proudly!
You already knew this? Cool! But are you sure your friends know about this? Share for them!
PS: No offence to Shams Tahir Khan, he is doing a great job.
