Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji will be visiting Chhattisgarh on June 22 for a two-day programme dedicated to strengthening forensic capabilities and reviewing the state’s internal security efforts.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma Ji shared that during his visit, the Home Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new campus of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Naya Raipur. This ambitious project, spread over 40 acres provided by the state, will be built with an estimated investment of ₹350–400 crore from the Central government.
The new campus is expected to play a crucial role in supporting India’s updated criminal laws, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam , by ensuring that robust forensic evidence becomes the backbone of serious crime investigations. To fast-track access to education and training, a digital transit campus will start functioning this academic year itself. Entrance exams have already been conducted, and admissions will begin soon.
Alongside the university, a modern state forensic laboratory will also come up on an adjoining 6–7 acre plot, adding further capacity for evidence analysis and scientific investigation. The aim is to address the growing need for trained forensic experts and to modernise the region’s criminal justice system.
The upcoming NFSU campus in Chhattisgarh represents a major step toward decentralising forensic education and enhancing India’s evidence-based justice system. With eight campuses already active across the country and more planned, NFSU is shaping up to be a key pillar of India’s modern law enforcement landscape.
