Applications are invited for IIT Kanpur SURGE Summer Internship Program 2022.

About SURGE 2022

Under the Students-Undergraduate Research Graduate Excellence (SURGE) program, students from IITK and other participating institutions undertake short duration, but focused research projects and push their intellectual abilities beyond those driven by the classroom. The duration of the program is approximately 8 weeks.

The SURGE-2022 Program is tentatively scheduled to be held from 13^th May 2022 till 14^th July 2022. An award plus a commendation certificate is given to those SURGE students who produce exceptional quality research during the period.

After four weeks, the SURGE participants are required to give a mid-term presentation to a review committee consisting of a group of academic staff members of IIT Kanpur. The review committee gives feedback and suggests possible improvements in the work.

Eligibility

SURGE for Non-IITK Indian Students:

Under this program, Non-IITK students will be eligible to apply for summer project at IIT Kanpur. This year SURGE is open for all colleges. The eligibility criteria for Non-IITK students at the time of starting of internship are mentioned below:

B.Sc (2nd year completed)
M.Sc. 2-Year (1st year completed)

Funding

Funding from SURGE (Institute Funded): Participants selected under this category will receive a stipend of Rs 12,500/- during the program duration.
Funding from IITK Project (Project Funded): Participants selected under this category will have an opportunity to work on projects which will be funded by faculty members of IIT Kanpur.
Self Funded: Participants selected under this category will have an opportunity to work on projects of faculty members of IIT Kanpur, however, they will not be entittled for any funding.
Industry-IITK tie-up, if any: Participants selected under this category will have an opportunity to work as individuals or in teams, on real-world projects proposed by the industry with mentors from both IIT Kanpur and the industry. The stipend will be paid by the industry. In SURGE-2022, only IIT Kanpur students can participate under this category.
