Their plan included administering the medication post-mortem and cremating the body to destroy evidence. However, an alert daughter and a series of forensic discoveries disrupted their scheme.

1. Blood Traces: The post-mortem examination revealed that the blood found on Y’s neck did not belong to him, prompting investigators to pursue this critical clue.
2. Human Flesh in Victim’s Teeth: Further analysis uncovered human tissue in Y’s teeth, indicating a struggle and directly implicating another individual. DNA analysis confirmed the tissue belonged to X.
3. CCTV Footage: Investigators reviewed footage that captured a car linked to the crime, ultimately tracing it to X.
4. Physical Injuries: X’s missing index finger and injuries consistent with a fall from height further corroborated his involvement.

Unraveling the Conspiracy: The investigation revealed a sinister plot orchestrated by X’s wife, Z, in collaboration with their aide. Z allegedly hired X for Rs 1 lakh to carry out the murder, aiming to eliminate Y for personal reasons. Following the attack, the plan went awry when Y’s eldest daughter, alerted by unusual noises, discovered the crime in progress. Her intervention forced the assailants to flee, abandoning their original plan to stage a natural death.
