The Delhi Lieutenant Governor has approved the recruitment of 165 Junior Scientific Assistants to bolster the Forensic Science Laboratory’s capacity in handling criminal investigations under new laws.
In a significant move to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has sanctioned the recruitment of 165 Junior Scientific Assistants (JSAs) on a contractual basis. This decision comes in response to the increasing demands on the FSL following the implementation of three new criminal laws on July 1, 2024.
The recruitment of JSAs is aimed at ensuring that the FSL can manage the heightened workload with greater transparency and efficiency. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity of forensic procedures, which play a vital role in unbiased and effective criminal investigations.
In addition to the 165 JSAs, 421 new positions have been approved to further strengthen the human resources at FSL. This underscores the importance of having a well-qualified team of professionals in forensic sciences to support the judicial system.
The expanded role of the FSL now includes critical areas such as DNA assessment, fingerprint analysis, autopsies, pathology, and toxicology. These functions are essential for maintaining the quality and reliability of evidence used in legal proceedings, ensuring justice is served.
This strategic move by the Delhi government highlights the ongoing commitment to advancing forensic science capabilities to support law enforcement and the judicial process.
