A criminal case has been registered, and forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene to aid the investigation. The owner, Abhishek Gupta, and the coordinator, Deshpal Singh, were taken into custody shortly after the bodies of the students were recovered from the flooded basement.
According to authorities, a case has been registered under Sections 105, 106(1), 115/2, 290, and 35 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the incident.
DCP Central M. Harshavardhan emphasized the commitment to a thorough investigation, stating, “We are committed to registering a strong case and uncovering the truth. Two people have been detained so far.”
The owner and coordinator of Rau’s IAS Study Circle have been arrested in connection with the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants who drowned in the basement of the coaching institute in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. The incident occurred on Saturday following heavy rainfall that led to flooding in the area, police reported on Sunday.
He further added, “We have registered a criminal case. The forensic teams are here, and the process of collecting forensic evidence is underway.”
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with hundreds of students staging protests demanding justice. Rescue operations were launched to save the trapped students, involving teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Fire Services.
The three victims, comprising two female and one male student, were aspirants preparing for the civil services exam. The tragic event has highlighted the urgent need for improved safety measures in coaching institutes, particularly in flood-prone areas.
