All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar, has released the applications for its Ph.D programme in various fields for the academic year 2021.
The AIIMS Bhubaneswar offers both full-time and part-time Ph.Ds in Medical/ Health Sciences.
Scholars can pick a theme of their choice depending on the expertise and interest of the
supervising faculty member from the following department
• Biochemistry
• Community Medicine and Family Medicine
• Microbiology
• Pathology
• Physiology
• Pharmacology
Eligibility
A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:
**Non-Medical – For non-medical candidates, eligibility shall be Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per the requirement of the project. Candidates holding M.Sc. in a subject allied to Life Sciences/Bio-Medical Sciences (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. The degree will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category.
Candidates having eligibility under the non-medical category should have at least 55% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified (50 % in case of SC/ST/OBC/OPH candidates). Candidate possessing a Master’s Degree through distant learning course shall not be eligible. The non-medical candidates should have qualified in any one of the following national entrance tests in the last 2 years (Valid Fellowship):
- Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF
- ICMR – JRF
- DBT – JRF
- NBHM screening test
- Graduate aptitude test (GATE)
- INSPIRE fellowship
- UGC – JRF
- CSIR – JRF
- Any other Fellowship for the PhD. Program
How to Apply
Application form available at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar website should be duly filled and the filled application form should be forwarded through Speed Post to “The Registrar, Academic Section, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar, At-Sijua, Post-Dumuduma Patrapada, Bhubaneswar -751019” to reach on or before 23.02.2021 at 5:00 pm. The envelope should be marked as “AIIMS BBSR PhD 2020-21”. Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be disqualified.

Application fees for various categories for AIIMS Bhubaneswar PhD Admissions are as follows:
a) General/OBC category: INR 1500/- + transaction Charges as applicable
b) SC/ST category: INR 1200/- + transaction Charges as applicable

Selection Process
Step 1: Applications will be screened for eligibility as per the Institute guideline. The names of the short-listed candidates along with date and time for the personal interview will be displayed on the AIIMS Bhubaneswar website. The list of PhD guides (who have a vacancy for PhD students in their laboratory) would be given to shortlisted candidates. The final selection would be based on the performance in the interview. (* Based on the number of the shortlisted candidate, a written exam and interview may be conducted). The decision of the Institute will be final and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
No TA/DA shall be provided by the Institute at any stage of the admission process and outstation candidates appearing for the interview should make their own arrangements for their stay in Bhubaneswar.
Fellowship
The selected candidates, who have passed the JRF examination conducted by CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/ AYUSH/ DST-Inspire can avail of fellowship as per the rules of the respective funding agency. No institute fellowship is available at this stage.
